Uranus in Taurus

As of today, March 6th, Uranus has officially (re) entered Taurus. It began its transit through the sign of the Bull back in May last year, but after going Retrograde in August, it shifted back into Aries for one last hurrah.

The energies of Uranus and Taurus couldn't be any more different, so it is sort of a strange combination. Whereas Uranus is all about change, surprises, and invention, Taurus is a sign that likes to stick with what they know, and is notoriously resistant to change. Therefore, it is foreseeable that the changes which occur during this time (on a grand scale) are likely to have an undertone of stubbornness to them, and may have lasting effects.

The last time Uranus entered Taurus was in 1935. Hitler was gaining steam in Germany (an Aries/Taurus cusp himself, showing that Uranus was at this point conjunct his natal Sun). Clearly this was a crucial point in history which caused lasting effects into later generations. The Great Depression in the United States was still going strong, and the Dust Bowl was also during this time.

Taurus is an Earth sign, and often a very environmentally conscious sign. On the other side of that, however, is materialism. Usually people with strong Taurus influence are either one or the other, and sometimes both.

This leads me to predict a few things for this 7 year transit.

1) politically speaking, there will be many unexpected changes, but from the root of power-hungry people that inadvertently create long term effects. Any dictatorial personalities are likely to accumulate great fervor during this time and act on notions that, ill-advised or even wrong as they may be, will nevertheless be put into action almost out of this impulsive desire for power at any cost.

2) However, on the other side of that, I predict there also to be just as fervent uprisings with people who have had enough of the BULLshit (get it?). We won't be wanting to sit around and ignore the changes happening. Action is inevitable, and opinions are stronger than ever. Activism will gain a more radical edge.

3) environmentally speaking, the combination of Taurus (Earth sign) and Uranus (violent change and unexpected occurrences), leads me to predict many natural disasters and a sort of accumulated wrath of Mother Nature. This is already something in progress, but I believe it will pick up even more during this time. The potentially positive side of this is that, though unexpected changes in the environment will occur, it could also lead to a greater human consciousness of what needs to be done for the planet.

4) Materialism taking many new technological forms. The experience of materialism as we know it is changing, and since Uranus rules technology, it is clear to see that our forms of shopping and purchasing will be almost exclusively Internet-based by the end of this transit. Many new and cutting-edge fashions will come out, and there will be an exciting array of new music and forms of art, as Taurus is ruled by Venus.

I think overall, on a worldly level, this transit could go one of two ways. Either rigid and extreme conservatism, or almost a shockingly soft form of tenderness coming from the human collective. One could also lead to the other.
